Virtual Cohort Training Opportunity

Is your Program seeking accreditation or consecutive accreditation in 2021 or 2022? Do you have an Accreditation Manager that is trained on the 2019 Emergency Management Standard?

Due to the challenges associated with providing classroom-based training during these unprecedented times, EMAP is providing three (3) virtual cohort trainings this fall in September, October, and November. Please do not wait for classroom-based trainings at EMI to return in 2021; those classes are full due to the cancellation of the September 2020 EMI courses.

Programs with current Subscriptions, and/or those using the EMAP Program Assessment Tool towards a future remote or on-site assessment must establish a new self-assessment using either the 2019 Emergency Management Standard or the 2019 Urban Search & Rescue Standard. All future EMAP self-assessments, document reviews and on-site assessments will be conducted with the new 2019 Standards.

Communications & Warning and Emergency Public Information – How to Assess & Write Findings Webinar

This webinar will provide assessors with best practices for assessing the intent and application of the 4.7: Communications & Warning and 4.11: Emergency Public Information and Education standards. The webinar will discuss the newly published Finding Review Guide and how it can be utilized by assessors to develop and review Standard Area 4.7 and 4.11 findings. Lastly, samples of compliant and non-compliant findings will be reviewed to provide assessors with an understanding of the level of detail that is needed in the Standard Area 4.7 and 4.11 findings.

Calling all EMAP Assessors!

The EMAP calendar is filling up with assessments in September, October, November and December. The EMAP Commission recently voted to extend the period of no EMAP related travel through the end of the year. Each of our upcoming assessments will be conducted in a virtual capacity. EMAP Employee Spotlight - Olivia Galinis


Olivia Galinis joined EMAP as an Event and Project Coordinator in 2020. Olivia assists with marketing and social media, as well as the US&R Standards.

Olivia graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. At Virginia Tech, Olivia gained relevant skills and insight into such areas as marketing, society and public interests, and research methods. Olivia also gained experience as a program coordinator and ambassador for Linking Lives Study Abroad; an events coordinator; and, as community service chair for different organizations.

Data Collection & Continuity Assessment Tool Pilot Participation

EMAP is looking for Assessors and Accreditation Managers who are interested in participating in the Data Collection and Continuity Assessment Tool (CAT) Assessments in 2021. EMAP will be providing a virtual training session for Assessors and Accreditation Managers who are interested in participating in the Data Collection and CAT Assessments on November 5 and November 12, 2020 from 12-5pm.
