2019 Emergency Management Standard & 2019 Urban Search & Rescue Standard Released

EMAP is happy to announce the release of the newly revised 2019 Emergency Management Standard and the 2019 Urban Search & Rescue Standard. EMAP would like to thank all of the Emergency Management and Urban Search & Rescue practitioners who submitted comments. EMAP also extends a big thanks to the dedicated personnel on the EMAP Standards Subcommittees and Technical Committee, who spent countless hours over the course of our three-year standard review cycle to assist in the recent revisions to the Standards.

Programs with assessments scheduled through September 2020 have the option to be assessed and accredited using the 2016 Emergency Management Standard and the 2016 Urban Search & Rescue Standard. This date is extended for Programs currently on an extension.
 
Programs with current Subscriptions, and/or those using the EMAP Program Assessment Tool towards a future on-site assessment must establish a new self-assessment using either the 2019 Emergency Management Standard or the 2019 Urban Search & Rescue Standard. All future EMAP self-assessments, document reviews and on-site assessments will be conducted with the new 2019 Standards.



EMAP Staff Announcement - Please Welcome Kristi Nadler


Kristi Nadler joins the EMAP Staff as an Assessment Coordinator. Kristi began her career in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1991 and has worked for county and non-profit Emergency Management Programs. Kristi has been involved with EMAP since 2015 as an Accreditation Manager and assessor. 

Kristi will provide direct coordination and organization of EMAP’s assessment and accreditation activities associated with federal, state and local emergency management programs.

EMAP Business Consultant Initiative

EMAP is launching the Business Consultant Initiative this summer. The Business Consultant Initiative seeks to provide consultants with the information and tools necessary to apply the Emergency Management Standard to their assigned projects, including plans, processes, procedures, and systems. This project includes the development, facilitation, and evaluation of a training curriculum geared towards the needs of business consultants.

EMAP will be launching the Business Consultant Initiative Focus Group in August to provide guidance and recommendations on the development and facilitation of the training curriculum. The Business Consultant Initiative Focus Group is soliciting participation from consultants and emergency managers to ensure that the training curriculum meets the needs of both the consultants and the clients. Virtual Cohort Training Opportunity

EMAP will be providing four (4) virtual cohort trainings on the 2019
Emergency Management Standard from August through November 2020. The goal of these virtual cohort trainings is to train Accreditation Managers, Assessors, and Program Staff on the 2019 Emergency Management Standard in a safe environment during these unprecedented times.

Each virtual cohort training will be four (4) weeks in length, requiring the participation of attendees in one (1) afternoon session and small group work weekly. At the completion of the virtual cohort training, participants may be certified as an Accreditation Manager and/or Assessor.

The virtual cohort training registration fee is $250.
